A book beautifully written by Melissa Hill.

The book is about two men who bought a gift for their girl at Tiffany’s Christmas Eve.

 Gary Knowles, a self-conceited, bike-enthusiast whose business is going down the drain. While in New York, he got preoccupied with shopping for himself that he forgot to get a gift for his girl, Rachel Conti. He thought of buying her something that would level the generosity of Rachel, for she solely payed their holiday trip for Christmas. Tiffany’s was the first shop he spotted and bought her a charm bracelet.

 Ethan Greene, a widow, school professor/lecturer and a father to a sweet 8 year old girl, Daisy. He was buying the perfect engagement ring at Tiffany’s for Vanessa, the first woman he has ever loved since the lost of his lovely wife Jane.

But then their Tiffany bags got mixed up. And their lives become intertwined.

This is my first book of the year and I loved it! I had moments wherein I had to put the book down just for a second and imagine. It was detailed that it felt like I was there – in New York at Tiffany’s! There are a lot of twist and turns and also a hint of mystery which just keeps you turning the page until the end. It’s a good read. <3

Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto

A book written by Samantha Sotto. A Filipino writer based in the Philippines who obviously and enviously made her way to the world of writing.

The book is about the love of Max and Shelley. They’re a beautiful and happy couple who made everyday a moment to love each other and make endless memories together. The type of couple who knows each other so well to the point that each knows how each other wants their tea made or what kind. Then a drastic and inevitable  life changing incident happened – Max died and Shelley was left alone.

Three years after Max’s death, Shelley found herself at the same spot when he left. Until someone was at her door. The same pair of eyes, lips, smile and age as her Max was standing before her – he was Paolo, who introduced himself as Max’s grandson. Shelley never expected that by opening the door, her once clear and perfect memory of Max will be blurred and unknown to her. And her journey for truth begins…

This is my first book of a Filipino writer, and I wasn’t surprised that the book is great. Filipinos are surely world class! Proud to be Pinoy!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

A book written by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. My very first epistolary novel. It’s a book in the form of letters. This was the reason why I got interested in the book, other than by it’s unique and intriguing title.

Juliet Ashton, a columnist turned book author received a letter from a stranger, Dawsey Adams, a member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.This is where everything started. At first, she only knew the members through mail. They were sharing stories of their lives during the German Occupation and told how their club got started and how it got it’s name. She got intrigued and interested of the group and decided to make them the center story of her new book.Until Juliet decided to meet them in person and went to Guernsey for a visit. She never expected that that visit would change everything. And she never left.

When in Rome

"When in Rome"

I just finished reading “When in Rome”by Gemma Townley and it was okay. Light. Funny. Romantic. but predictable.

I was barely in the middle of the book when I already had a clue of how the book would end. It’s not the type that will keep you turning the pages because you’re so eager to know what would happen next. I just wish the  author made the character a little more subtle and deep. It also had a couple of boring chapters especially when it’s about Georgie’s work,I assume there are more better jobs in London other than working in a publishing company.

But I love how the author described Rome. I love how she can bring the reader (or is it just me) to Rome, like I am really there. The cobbled streets, cafe along side the road, croissants and the Vespa ride. Oh very romantic! makes me wanna go to Rome all the more!

Overall, I still think it’s a good book. a good read. I give it 3 stars.
